herbal remedy

If you are in the beginning stages of an upper respiratory infection, there is no need for early antibiotic intervention; 80% of the upper respiratory infections are viral in nature, and will resolve on their own. However, taking a natural home-made remedy will not only make you feel much better, but it will help decrease inflammation and heal faster. I have personally used this cough remedy numerous times, and highly recommend it to my patients. Keep the following dry organic herbs in your house – they are good for years and there will be plenty of chances to use them:

  • Marshmallow – 1 tablespoon (for ONE day of a cough remedy)
  • Licorice – 2 teaspoons
  • Mullein – 2 teaspoons
  • Horehound – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Chamomile – 2 teaspoons
  • Calendula – 2 teaspoons
  • Thyme – 2 teaspoons
  • Sage – 2 teaspoons

Now, here’s what you should DO:

  • Use any glass, ceramic, or enamel-coated container with a lid.
  • Premix all of the apportioned ingredients in a bowl.
  • Place 1 tablespoon of this mix in the above mentioned container. Pour 2 glasses of boiling water over it. Stir and cover tightly.
  • Wrap the container with a thick towel to preserve the heat longer. Steep for 20 minutes.
  • Cover a small strainer with a gauze, place it over a large mug, and pour the herbal tonic down the strainer into the mug. You can add 1/2 teaspoon of honey to taste.
  • Drink 1/3 of the contents of the mug warm 3 times/day – your cough will become more bearable, you will bring us the mucus, and recover faster.

To your health!
