Being a former New Yorker… It is a rich and awesome experience infused with the best cultural venues the world has to offer. We’ve got it all here at our fingertips: Museums, theaters, opera, concert halls… But we are also the hardest working people in the world. Relaxation cannot seem to make a home with us; no one works as obsessively as New Yorkers do. The expression “In a New York Minute” accurately portrays the rapid pulse of our city. And that amazing rhythm does put most of us into the overdrive mode.

We try to accomplish so much in a given time, we stress over so many things at once, and we try to be so many things to so many people at once, that when we finally reach the well deserved break, we have no energy left.

In my studies of Asian healing cultures, the most appealing characteristics were people’s ability to embrace relaxation, to meditate, and to savor the moment. In Western cultures, and in the New York City’s quest for Carpe Diem, many of us have lost the ability to unwind.

It was in this spirit, that we have introduced the Destress Duo and Trio Treatments in our medical practice. We have created the concept of Destress Treatments, keeping in mind the busy schedules of our clients, and made Saturdays available to those who cannot make it to the office on weekdays. The Destress Duo treatments incorporate two full hours immersed relaxation experience. Clients may choose between an hour of Acupuncture and Acupressure by a Board Certified Licensed Acupuncturist, an hour of any type of full body massage and far infrared sauna, or an hour of nutritional consultation and personal fitness led by our licensed and certified Nutritionist and Fitness Coach.

The Destress Trio experience naturally incorporates all three of the modalities. While at the office, the clients will enjoy sipping on organic green or black tea and listening to the soothing sounds of the ocean waves of Tibetan instrumental music. The entire experience is meant to provide gentle transition from “doing” to “being.”

Remember: Prolonged periods of stress at work and at home cause us to secrete large amounts of the cortisol hormone, which cuts into our longevity by predisposing us to diabetes, heart attacks, and strokes. Chronic exposures to elevated cortisol levels also promote obesity and deconditioning.

There is a new fresh way you can meaningfully unwind and follow the call of relaxation at our Longevity Institute. If you are interested in learning more about the Destress Duo ir Trio experiences, please Contact Us.
